Sea Maiden

WHO would be
A mermaid fair,
Singing alone,
Combing her hair
Under the sea,
In a golden curl
With a comb of pearl,
On a throne?

I would be a mermaid fair;
I would sing to myself the whole of the day;
With a comb of pearl I would comb my hair;
And still as I comb’d I would sing and say,
“Who is it loves me? who loves not me?”
I would comb my hair till my ringlets would fall,
Low adown, low adown,
From under my starry sea-bud crown."
~Afred Lord Tennyson 1830

Whispers of Winter white.  A season of quiet light to float in...to rest soundly.

Seawashed Rosary

Seawashed Rosary

"Outside the open window the morning air is all awash with angels."
~Richard P. Wilbur

All windows are open, curtains float about the room.  The warmth of sunshine remains, while Autumn barely blows in.  The garden fades with a blush of roses.   Fog returns to the back fields in the morning dawn.

 Rosaries are in my etsy shop

There are beautiful days ahead for my family as one of my children is marrying, another is traveling to Panama to work on a coffee plantation, and our youngest is leaving the nest.

Of A Summer Sea

a quiet wash of the sea has come in

Sea Cottage is bathed in the white tide of a Summer sea

Peace flowing gently

"So fine was the morning except for a streak of wind here and there that the sea and sky looked all one fabric, as if sails were struck high up in the sky, or the clouds had dropped down into the sea."
~Virginia Woolf

Quiet, soft layerings of white with sun faded blues from the Summer sea.

Fade Into Quiet

There is a place where my soul finds being.  Where nature's emptiness opens my capacity to breathe.  A hidden shore to lay down upon, where the gentle wind blows and the soft rain washes away my dross. The stillness becomes a song that my heart longs to hear.

Beauty finds me and I fade into quiet.

Pure Waters

"a secret freedom opens through a crevice you can barely see."
-Rumi

I lay down on the barren shore and purest waters wash over me.  My long hair tangled in the seaweed like a mermaid.  A whisper of a psalm drifts through the air.

Undreamed Shores

Listen in silence, O coastlands
"In the stillness between two waves of the sea." -

"To unpathed waters, undreamed shores."
  ~William Shakespeare

As the marine fog drifts in, a silence draws me into stillness.  The mystery beckons me... leading me... to unpathed waters...to the deep hidden places of the sea...where the songs that have never been heard are found.

"as when our soul was poured into our body and our body was lifted up from the waters."
-Margaret Ebner 1351

Seawashed Sanctuary

When we bought our home its Mediterranean architecture reminded us of a Monastery.

.We envisioned the way that we would inhabit its space to create a seaside sanctuary.

 Living in simplicity with minimal furnishings, openness, natural light and soft shades of the sea.  There is empty space and quietness that creates a sanctuary atmosphere.

 Our home has become a refuge of peace and a calm dwelling place.

Quiet Living

"Reverence is the nature of my love."
~Thich Nhat Hahn

"The pure land is now or never."
~Thich Nhat Hahn

I have been on a path of embracing silence and living quietly for some time now.  I truly have found a peace that I was yearning for.  It seems as the world gets louder, I get quieter;  as it goes faster, I go slower;  and as it rises higher, I go lower.  In quieting my life I am able to listen.  My heart aches for 'the pure land'.  I  find goodness is everywhere.
