Cottage Living

"There are as many shades of white as there are clouds in the sky."
~Claire Whitcomb

"Let there be a cottage...a real cottage...a white cottage, embowered with flowering shrubs, so chosen as to unfold a succession of flowers upon the walls, and clustering round the windows through all the months of spring, summer, and autumn~ beginning, in fact, with May roses, and ending with jasmine..." ~Thomas De Quincey

"The cottage... a charming and peaceful refuge nestled somewhere amid the rural countryside or along the shoreline of a vast blue ocean." ~Victoria Classics

As the Summer months draw near I will be sharing our sea cottage layered in whites with views into the gardens, where many hours of the day are spent.  White sheets will be blowing in the warm air.

Solace of the sea

"I wonder sometimes if fog is just the clouds
that could not stand being away from the earth any longer. Just the ones that were too tired to float anymore, and wanted to feel soil once again."
~Tyler Knott Gregson

The Northern California Coast is a place of solace for me.  The beach is almost always empty and often covered in sheltering fog.  I will remain near its shore for as long as I can.
