The spirit sings...

When psalms surprise me with their music
And antiphons turn to rum
The spirit sings: the bottom drops out of my soul

And from the center of my cellar, Love,
louder than thunder
Opens a heaven of naked air.

New eyes awaken.

I send Love's name into the world with wings
And songs grow up around me like a jungle.
Choirs of all creatures sing the tunes
Your Spirit played in Eden.

Zebras and antelopes and birds of paradise
Shine on the face of the abyss
And I am drunk with the great wilderness
Of the sixth day in Genesis.

Listening To Silence...sabbath rest

"I saw autumn in the misty morn
stand shadowless like silence,
listening to silence."
~Thomas Hood

"I sit on seas hem
quiet washes over me
the shores silence
my rest."

Pacific Coast...

We have returned from the sea sun-sick and a broken toe for hubby. We were camped on the shore under brillant star-filled skies. The weather was so hot it felt more like summer than autumn. Too hot to sit on the beach without shade cover from an umbrella. I prefer a calm, foggy seashore, but couldn't help being delighted by the sun kissing my cheeks. We strolled the beach often and drove up the coast to visit some beaches we've never seen before.

Schoolhouse beach being one of them. This beach was rocky rather than the soft silky sand of Salmon Creek beach that were used to. The waves were huge and too strong to swim in. The sea was vibrant blue with sun sparkling like diamonds on the surface. Driving down hwy. 1 with a surrounding ocean view was surreal in an enchanting way. I didn't want to come home.

I had a heat-stroke when I was 20 yr. so I can get sick from too much sun...and I did.

Hubby's broken toe is quite funny actually...he was just running along the beach with Bella and tripped on his big 2nd toe. The next day it was swollen, black, and blue and he said it's broken. We both laughed.

"God rises up out of the sea like a treasure in the waves,
and when language recedes His brightness remains on the shores of our own being."

~ Thomas Merton (thoughts in solitude)

I'm on my way to the sea...
be back in a few days.
