roses and with elgantine...

"I know a bank where the wild thyme blows,
Where oxlips and the nodding violet grows quiet
overcanopied with luscious woodbine,
with sweet musk roses and with elgantine."

knee deep in dirt...

Good morning beautiful,

Sundance and I are off on our noble quest to bring home the perfect dirt.
See you soon,
The Carpenter

This is the note I received on my bedside table this morning. My dear husband will be bringing home mounds and mounds of dirt today. He is getting the dirt free off of the new job site he is on. His friends at the dump truck rentals is letting him borrow a truck to bring the dirt home in. We have a field behind our cottage so he will drive the truck around the back and dump all the dirt behind our fence. He says this dirt is rich wonderful soil from near the river. He will bring enough home to fill our entire yard and garden boxes, probably a couple thousand dollars worth. Who ever thought DIRT would cost so much. Treasure indeed. We will be knee deep in dirt, shoveling for weeks. Then we will begin to plant our winter gardens and more trees and roses. Oh, how beautiful our autumn gardens will be.

"God's poet is silence!
His song is unspoken,
And yet so profound, so loud, and so far,
It fills you, it thrills you with measures unbroken,
And as soft, and as fair, and as far as a star."
~Joaquin Miller

"Silence is a sounding thing,
As one who listens hungrily."
~Gwendolyn Bennett
