Summer Rest

Feeling better today, but still taking it easy. Resting, hydrating, and eating healthy small meals. I will continue to lay around and read my pile of summer magazines. Isn't that what summer is all about anyways. Hope you don't have to bump your head to be able to lay around and rest this summer. tee hee (ps- no Tricia Rose I was not climbing trees lol)

Slightly Shabby Is The Winner!

Congratulations Victoria of Slightly Shabby! You are the winner of The Seawashed Giveaway. Thank you everyone for entering and encouraging me in my art and shop. I loved reading what all your favorites are. I think I need to paint some more Subway Signs because they were the most favored item!

Sorry if this post sounds a bit off...but I have not been feeling well after hitting my head on a huge oak tree branch yesterday. The swelling from the lump has gone down but I have been fatigue and out of sorts. Victoria if you can email me your address I will get your gift in the postal to you! I hope you can find a place in your new Florida home for them.

Taking some time...

Taking some time away due to the sudden loss of an extended family member. Natalie is the stepsister of my nephews. She was 22 yrs. old when within a weeks time she was rushed to the hospital where they discovered an unknown hematoma in her brain was hemoraging. Brain surgery was performed twice, but she did not make it. She was a healthy active college student on a full soccer scholarship. She loved animals, nature, and traveling to other countries with her well known Wildlife Artist Father and family. A beautiful light has gone, and she will be dearly missed.

Fall from their heavenly tower.
Joys walk no longer down
the blue world's shore."
~Thomas Merton

I will be back next week to announce the winner of the Seawashed Giveaway. I may still post pretties with few words...I just wanted you to know where my heart is and why it may be more quiet than usual around here.

Each fairy breath of summer,
as it blows with loveliness,

French Inspired Seaside Living

My home is my seaside sanctuary. It is ever evolving in its coastal decor, but I continue to return to the french inspired gentle simplicity of calm and comfort. A palette of white, grey, sand, and sea...

Yet I have been adding some black bringing in the french nordic

shells and uncovered books

rustic crowns

and religious relics...rosaries, crosses, sacred hearts {an influence from Jeanne D Arc Living}

I had pulled out all my shabby chic florals for spring, but they just didn't last long. (go here for the before) I continue to return to the emptiness of open, rustic, french country living...by the sea. I will share more in the days to come.

My friend Dore of Burlap Luxe is having a French Inspired Giveaway...

Visit her to enter. Giveaway ends June 25th.

Ralph Lauren Blues

"Every day love corners me somewhere and surrounds me with peace without having to look very far or very hard or do anything special." ~T.Merton

It is 102 today. We went to the pool to swim before it reached 100. Now we stay in the cool of Sea Cottage resting. A perfect day for Ralph Lauren blues...

Do you like the new R. Lauren pillows I found at Homegoods? I do. I've been looking for these for a long time now. They look nice on the white slipcovered sofas, but also on the espresso leather chair. Perfect for a calm coastal cottage.

Later, after 8:00pm, we will venture out to celebrate my son Luke's 22 birthday. I will be making the margaritas!

Seaside Sundays

The coast of France reminds me of the pacific coast I love so much.

I laundered the sofa slipcovers this weekend and hung them out to dry. Now Sea Cottage is crisp and clean again...

A french garden in an old issue of Veranda open on the seawashed table to inspire me these summer days.

Roses from my own garden. They are called 'April In Paris'...

If you are here for the Paris Tour continue on in the posts below.

Paris, France

Through the door, up the stone steps, into where dreams come true Paris, France...

"This is the beauty that belongs to France." ~Victoria Magazine Sept. 1999

I have never been to Paris but if I were to go, you would find me walking through the charming streets of chippy, faded, rustic romance...admiring curtains flowing in the windows, shops and cafes in many colors, rose covered courtyards, and european bicycles lining the sidewalks. I would stay in an apartment with french doors, a rustic chandelier and lots of books.

I would sip tea and eat chocolate croissants every day...and the treasure I would be shopping for to bring home with me... an antique french painting on canvas.
Would you like to come along with me...
