Sea Stars Giveaway

at Completely Coastal

Maya has 2 dozen white sea stars (starfish) to giveaway...but you gotta hurry because the giveaway ends tonight!

There are so many things you could do with them. Have you seen Rosemary's Seaside Chariot?

See what she has used white starfish for...to adorn her lacey white beach cruiser.

So that gave me the idea to add a broken sanddollar(found on the sonoma coast) to my nantucket basket. What do you think?

You can now visit Seawashed on facebook. I've added a tiny sanddollar on my sidebar that you can click to get there. While you are there can you push the 'like' button to show your support. Thank you!

The weekend is almost here! Yipeee...I will be riding my bike to the Big Pumpkin Festival.

Hand Stamped

"For his heart was in his work, and the heart giveth grace unto every art." Henry Wadsworth Longfellow

This is what I will be working on in my studio for the next several weeks. I will be stamping quotes on watercolour papier and then making prints of them.

As soon as I can find some more canvas this size I will be stamping on canvas too.

This quote is from the story 'The Island' by A.A Milne in his book When We Were Very Young. These prints are from the vintage illustration by Ernest H. Sheperd from the story and available in my etsy shop.

"And there would I rest, and lie, My chin in my hands, and gaze At the dazzle of sand below,

And the green waves curling slow, And the grey-blue distant haze Where the sea goes up to the sky..."

This print is offered in 8.5 x 11, 4.24 x 5.5, and as notecards.

I am also making hand-stamped tags for winter...

They can be used as gift tags(for Christmas), holiday display, ornaments on the tree, or winter tablescapes.

Tags are offered in grey or black but I can do custom orders just visit my etsy with your requests.

For more holiday ideas visit Burlap Luxe. Thank you Dore for including Seawashed. ox

Seaside Sundays

A white beach cruiser for a seaside sunday ride along the boardwalk...

That's right, I bought my white electra beach cruiser! When I went to my favorite bicycle shop, City Bicycle Works, in downtown Sacramento they had both of the electra's that I wanted. They had the Cruiser 1 in white, mint, pink, and black. AND they had the Coaster 1 in blush. So I was able to test ride them both.

I highly recommend test riding a bicycle before buying one. The Coaster 1(blush) is supposed to be better than the Cruiser 1(white) and it costs almost twice as much. But I was pleasantly suprised by the ride of the Cruiser 1(white) because it felt much more comfortable.

The handle bars are wider in true cruiser fashion and somehow that made for a more comfortable ride for me. I did like the thicker feel of the tires on the Coaster 1(blush), but after a few years I can easily change the cruiser tires for the coaster tires.

After riding and riding around and around the block I decided it was most definetly the white Cruiser 1. City Bicycle Works is such an amazing bike shop. They take the bike to the back where the repair dept. is and check everything on the bike to make sure it is in perfect condition and then they give it a good polish so that you walk out of their shop with a sparkling new bike. I absolutely love my new sea white beach cruiser...and nantucket basket.

This is not the Nantucket basket I had been wanting. It's even better! The weave is so thick and in a perfect seawashed grey.

I think it really adds the 'beach' to Beach Cruiser.

I already had this electra bike bell from my pink Ocean Pacific beach cruiser. Can you see my pearl polished toes below?

Isn't she beautiful? I can't wait to take her for a ride along the pacific coast.

She will soon have white fenders(coat & dress guards).

I forgot to get them while I was there but I called the shop to make sure they have some in stock and they do!

And now I need to name her. More photos soon to come.

First Day Of Autumn

"I saw autumn in the misty morn stand shadowless like silence, listening to silence." ~Thomas Hood

I will spend tomorrow morning at the Consumnes River Preserve for an early morning walk with my husband to begin the first weekend of Autumn. We will take our tea and coffee as the sun is rising over the waters. The preserve is along the consumnes river which is part of the Delta and home to much wildlife. We often go there to get away from city noise and spend a few hours in natures rythm. It's a birdwatchers paradise. There is also access for kayaking which we hope to use someday.

We will most likely spend the rest of the day in our gardens planting vegetables for winter and harvesting the abundance of tomatoes for freezing. Grilling and eating outdoors is on our agenda too.

Sunday will be spent in the country for the wedding of two young adults that we have known since birth. The families of both groom and bride are dear friends of ours and our children all grew up together. What a beautiful history this young couple shares. I am looking forward to their country wedding.

I hope you are enjoying these last days of September.

Autumn tidings,
Kerrie

Nordic Shabby Chic Caravan

I would like to introduce this sweet cottage on wheels all the way from Germany...

Home Sweet Motorhome

I featured her on my Nora Pearl Vintage Cottage Camper blog but thought I must share her here too because she is just too cute. ox

I think this is the prettiest camper I have ever seen!!!!

I absolutely love this tiny sink and robin's egg blue mirror

We have plans to redo the 'Pearl' in a nautical decor when we renovate her. But this Motorhome is giving me second thoughts. I may have to keep just a touch of nordic shabby chic-ness.

Please pop on over to Nora Pearl to see more and visit Home Sweet Motorhome to see the before and after photos.

Gentleness...fragile flowers

"It was the love of love,
the love that swallows up all else,
a grateful love,
a love of nature, of people,
of animals,
a love engendering
gentleness and goodness
that moved me
and that I saw in you."
~ William Carlos Williams

"Above all let your love for one another be intense,
because love covers all offenses." 1Peter4:8,Proverbs10:12

The meaning of Gentleness is~
kindness, politeness,
considerateness, meekness,
forebearance, and goodness of heart.

As I get older I am learning even more of how valuable gentleness is. Life can be hard. We are fragile. We are in need of kindness. I know I am. I hope that when you visit my little place here in the blogworld that you find gentleness. I hope that you find kindness, acceptance, love, and goodness of heart.

"love one another intensely from a pure heart." 1Peter1:22

If you have not, I am truly sorry. I want to be a place of refuge for the fragile heart to find strength for the day. Including mine. When I began blogging 5 yrs. ago my purpose was to 'give beauty'. Whether it be in words or images or both. I wanted to give beauty that would uplift the heart and soul in a way that would remind us to breath in the goodness of life.

"knowing what is right is like deep water in the heart, a wise person draws from the well within." Proverbs 20:5

I am learning that I am weak and fragile, and that gentleness is like healing waters to my soul. It soothes the weariness of life's troubles. In my thoughts I see a trickling waterfall gently falling over head, softly covering my body with dampness, refreshing my being. Love given gently, freely and unconditionally.

"Do nothing out of selfishness rather humbly regard others as more important than yourselves." Phil2:3

I want to be a quiet friend that truly cares and gives freely. This weekend while hiking at the Consumnes River Preserve I watched a duck dipping up and down, in and out of the water and thought 'how I wish I were a duck'. Life is so simple in nature. I could imagine how refreshing dipping my head up and down, in and out of the water would feel. Then it wiggled its tail in such a happy way. So, I began to think of how I can live a simple life like a duck. And gentleness has been on my heart ever since.

"a plain and simple life is a full life." Proverbs 13:7

Blogging has become more complicated, but I am trying to keep on in simple ways and hope that in some way I bring beauty and calm to your fragile life.

"All flesh is like grass,
and all its glory like the flowers
of the field..." 1Peter1:24

I think of myself(and all of you)as fragile flowers blowing in the breeze of life...we fill the field with beauty only for a time. Let us be good to one another while blowing together... letting our fragrance fill the earth until we gently fade into the sunset of time.

Gentle tidings
to the fragile flowers,
Kerrie
