English Cottage

I found this Company, Plain English, at Home and Harmony. Did you see Rie's post this week?

When I visited the website I just adored the uncluttered english cottage style...and all the white.

This is the style I am most comfortable in...the cozy tiny cottage with fresh flowers in enamel pitchers, fluffy white sofas, lots of tossed rose covered pillows, chunky wood tables, pale tea cups, sheer curtains blowing in the breeze, french doors leading to organic veggie gardens...

Isn't it comfortable? There is much more to see, so go take a peek at Plain English.

One more thing...

Tracie at French Larkspur is having a generous Giveaway

She is giving away 8 of the new mugs at Anthropologie! I would be happy with just one!

I can see her sipping coffee in this pink anthro mug in her newly re-done kitchen, can't you? I adore her kitchen.

So pop on over to visit Tracie if you want to enter the Giveaway!

In My Cottage

It has been breezy here with the wind stirring up the pollen so allergies are aweful. I do not take meds so the cure for me is to remain indoors. I curl up in cozy spots to read with Bella Bleu by my side and Lily Monet nearby. I have sensed a peace hovering over our cottage. My heart at ease in the calm of simple days...hanging clothes on the line and puttering around in the garden.

I was able to do some painting. Tiny flowers in a delicate blue wash.

Lily in her nappy chair (these are for Sarah who asked about her)

lily monet turned one on good Friday

Lily is my daughter Grace's kitty whom is home from school today because she woke with a fever. Lily is always happy when her 'mama' is home.

Poor girl. She is in her final weeks of her Senior year with so many activities she really can't afford to miss. She is missing her Culinary Arts final this morning that she will now have to make up when she returns. Hopefully a day of rest in the comforts of home will heal her body. It is in times like these that I am even more thankful to be here to care for her.

Hope all is beautiful in your cottages...

I carry this quote in my pocket...

"Difficult times have helped me to understand better than before how infinitely rich and beautiful life is in every way,
and that so many things that one goes worrying about are of no importance whatsover." ~Isak Dinesen

The Sweet Fragrance...

The sweet fragrance of your friendships that blow across the meadows and over the seas to meet me here in my little cottage are of immeasurable value. Thank you for taking the time to leave such kind words...your words washed upon my shore.

how small am I...swallowed up in Love's immensity

"O past and gone.
How great is God. how small am I.
A mote in the illimitable sky,
Amidst the glory deep, and wide, and high
Of heaven's unclouded sun.

There to forget myself for evermore;
Lost, swallowed up in Love's immensity,
The sea that knows no sounding and no shore,
God only there, not I.

More near than I unto myself can be,
Art Thou to me;
So have lost myself in finding Thee,
Have lost myself for ever, O my Sun.

The boundless Heaven of Thine eternal love
Around me, and beneath me, and above;

In glory of that golden day
The former things are passed away-
I, past and gone."
~Gerhard Tersteegen 1697-1769

On this holy Saturday we will be attending Easter Vigil at sunset. My husband and I are being confirmed into the Catholic church. All of our children will be there to bless us.

Tomorrow we will remain home enjoying the simple pleasures of good food and family togetherness. I wish you Easter tidings of boundless peace and gentle love. May your hearts be full. ox
