It's late. Been sitting on our cottage garden bed with the wee ones (pup and youngest son) under the full moon. Crickets are chirping, stars are falling, lanterns glowing, all is still.
We had a good time at the Farmer's market. Filled our bags with nectarines, plums, cherries, and red potatoes. We found a shady spot under a tree and ate the warm cherries, nectarines, and a tiny bag of kettle corn. Bella got impatient after a while, she wanted to walk, so off to the walking trails we went. We followed the winding pathway through the redwoods and old oak trees, kids ran through the sprinklers, and Bella barked at every dog she saw. A lovely summer eve we shared, just the four of us. Our two oldest ones were at the movies with friends. I am enjoying this season of slowing down and simple days. Hanging clothes on the line, watering gardens(and toes at the same time, to keep cool of course), sipping sweet tea, sitting on rose quilts, reading pretty magazines, looking at the stars, listening to the birds sing, and smelling the blooming roses.
